Group S chooses Jarviss for the renewal of its firewalls

Group S is one of the largest HR service providers in Belgium, with a presence across the country – Flanders, Brussels, and Wallonia. Their core activity is social secretariat services, but they offer a wide range of HR services. Due to the nature of their work, Group S processes highly sensitive data, such as personnel and payroll information, making security a top priority for them.

End-of-Life firewalls

The organization faced an important milestone in their IT infrastructure: their firewalls had reached the end of their lifecycle and needed to be replaced. Group S decided to take the upgrade as an opportunity to modernize their network infrastructure.
“We were actually on quite a traditional network where we had little flexibility. So, we took the opportunity to not only renew our firewall but also migrate to an SD-WAN network,” explains Koen Van Loo, CIDO at Group S.

What the Project involved

The project included:

  • Replacement of the existing firewalls
  • Migration to a more flexible SD-WAN network
  • Implementation of advanced Palo Alto Networks security technology

The process was rolled out in steps:

  1. First, they did a full cleanup of the existing network.
  2. Then came testing to make sure everything would run smoothly.
  3. After that, the actual firewall replacements happened one-to-one.
  4. The new setup was brought together in Panorama. (the central management tool)
  5. Specific templates were created for the different locations, which were then rolled out to all agencies.

“We’re satisfied with the number of service connections currently in use when it comes to the network and security design,” says Mario Oosters Network architect from Group S.

Group S’s existing experience with Palo Alto Networks technology was an important factor in the project. “The use of Palo Alto Networks was definitely a positive point for us, as we’ve been working with it for quite some time already,”.

The Outcome

Thanks to the implementation of Palo Alto Networks security technology, not only are office users but also remote workers now protected against the latest and most advanced cyber threats. The new network structure gives Group S the flexibility they need for their future growth and digital transformation.
